Pedestrian Lane Considered for New Bridge

thumb_0e8984192a788e1Taney County may contribute funds to the new Highway 76 bridge over Bull Shoals Lake at Forsyth in order to add a 5-foot-wide walking lane for pedestrians.

MoDOT Assistant District Engineer Dan Salisbury says money for a sidewalk is not in the project budget, but the department is willing to work with the county and the city…

Eastern District Commissioner Danny Strahan supports the idea…

A second option of keeping the old bridge intact for pedestrian use appears to be going away as city and now county officials are reluctant to assume the liability and maintenance costs.

Commissioners agreed that any funds contributed for pedestrians would be better spent on the new bridge, which will be in use for 75 years when completed.
