Bail Bondsman Found Guilty in Bench Trial

thumb_588786a406aaee4A man from Rockaway Beach is found guilty of charges stemming from a drug deal in the parking lot of the Taney County Judicial Center.

In a bench trial on Monday, Christian County Senior Judge William Roberts finds 54-year-old Ronald Stoddard guilty of 2 counts of class B felony distribution of a controlled substance.

The case was moved to Christian County on a change of venue.

According to Taney County Prosecutor Jeff Merrell, Stoddard provided Xanax pills for a confidential informant and a narcotics investigator with the COMET task force in March of 2013 while he was working as a bail bondsman in Forsyth.

One of the transactions reportedly occurred in the parking lot of the Taney County Judicial Center.

Each charge carries a range of punishment of between 5 and 15 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Stoddard is scheduled for sentencing January 20th.
