A Taney County jury convicts a Branson man charged in a 2012 home invasion in Ridgedale.

The jury found 39-year-old James Wiklund guilty of 7 felonies after less than 30 minutes of deliberation following a trial that lasted less than 2 days.

The charges against Wiklund include burglary, first-degree assault, robbery, armed criminal action, tampering with a motor vehicle and 2 counts of kidnapping.

Wiklund and co-defendant Jonathan Hill reportedly forced their way into the home in December of 2012, assaulting the residents and stealing a number of items, including the couple’s pickup.

Hill pleaded guilty to similar charges and was sentenced last month to 25 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Wiklund’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 13th.

Prosecutor Jeff Merrell thanks the Taney County Sheriff’s Office for a quick response and their help in the investigation. Merrell also thanks the victims for their patience “while the wheels of justice turned slowly” in this case.
