Man Dies Following Shootout at Leslie, AR

thumb_715b7798f293f62A man involved in a hostage and shooting incident in Leslie, Arkansas has died from his injuries.

According to Arkansas State Police, 75-year-old John Kolata of Searcy County died in a Little Rock hospital on Friday. The State Crime Laboratory will conduct an examination and autopsy.

Searcy County Deputy Lang Holland was wounded by Kolata in an exchange of gunfire as the deputy and a state trooper entered the Serenity Farm Bakery on October 17th. Kolata was reportedly holding a hostage inside the business.

State Police say the investigation continues to determine if the deadly force used by law enforcement is consistent with Arkansas law.
