Branson Liquor Code Amendments Discussed

thumb_d13976053525a25BRANSON, Mo. – The City of Branson is considering changing its liquor code to prevent businesses from obtaining a liquor license and selling it for a profit.

The proposed amendments to the liquor ordinance seek to establish a definition for a retail store and requires the distribution of original package liquor licenses to only those stores.

Licensing and Tax Compliance Supervisor Carl Garrett…

Aldermen Rick Todd says there should be consideration for smaller businesses who may not meet the proposed minimum sales mark of 25-thousand dollars:

The board agreed to raise the minimum from 5-thousand dollars to 10-thousand dollars. Board members also expressed concern to clearly define a retail store in the amendment as well. The measure will appear before the board at its next scheduled meeting on November 10.
