Cardinals’ Outfielder Killed in Crash

thumb_2326d36e5fa501eST. LOUIS, Mo. – St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Oscar Tavares is killed in a car crash in the Dominican Republic along with his girlfriend according to his agent, Brian Mejia.

The 22-year-old was driving from Sosua to Puerto Plata. He was in his native country playing winter ball before joining the Cardinals in Florida in January.

He batted .239 and hit three homeruns with 28 RBI’s as a rookie last season.
