Some of the 2014 grant award recipients are receiving a second year of funding to continue successful programs initiated last year with the first grant awards from Skaggs Legacy Endowment proceeds.
The grants are possible as a result of a permanently-restricted, 25-million dollar endowment, which the Skaggs Foundation manages on behalf of the community. Proceeds from the investment are used to support health and wellness in Taney and Stone Counties.
2014 recipients include Galena on the Move, a program of Galena Vision of Hope – a grass roots healthy living initiative offering support and encouragement for self-directed walking, exercise, nutritional cooking and healthy eating.
SOAR Mental Health Services and Christian Associates of Table Rock Lake’s Mental Health Clinic will both continue to offer critical emotional and psychological support to area residents with another year of Legacy Grant funding.
Resources provide counseling, intervention and case management otherwise not available in our area.
