The Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce its new Lakes Area Leadership Academy for the 2015 Season. It has been re-developed with the guidance of our Strategic Planning sessions held this past April. The new program is designed to groom professionals for greater leadership roles in organizations across the community and beyond.
The Academy is scheduled to start classes in mid-January and run through May and will end with each student receiving a certificate of completion. Each session has been designed to have a strong emphasis on leadership training education.
Classes will include training on topics such as Government “How to Run for Office,” Board of Directors “Leading a Meeting Worth Attending,” Economic Development “Entrepreneurial Leadership,” as well as classes focusing on Healthcare Industry, Leadership Styles, Marketing, Tourism Industry, Environmental and Professional Communication.
Once the 2015 class sessions have ended, each student will begin preparations for year two of the Academy which will consist of identifying their strengths, developing goals for leadership projects, and, finally, implementing and completing each project. The students will each have an alumnus from a previous year’s classes as a mentor through the second year process. Mentors will work closely with the students to quantify their projects and help see them to completion.
Upon completion of the second year, which will coincide with the 2016 students receiving their certificate of completion, the year two students who have completed their projects will then receive their graduation plaque and be eligible for mentoring the 2016 students and projects.
“Our goal for each candidate of the Lakes Area Leadership Academy is to educate future potential community leaders about the history, politics and culture of Taney and Stone counties,” says Julie Bolton, Executive Director for the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. “The Leadership Academy is a personal development program designed to motivate participants to develop and enhance the quality of their leadership in addressing pertinent community needs.”
Additional announcements along with Leadership Academy applications will be available soon on www.BransonChamber.com.
