Arkansas State Police releases the name of a Searcy County man involved in a shooting incident Friday in Leslie.
Police say 75-year-old John Kolata is being treated for a gunshot wound at a Little Rock hospital, along with a Searcy County Sheriff’s Deputy, who has not been named.
Deputies and a State Trooper responded to the Serenity Farms Bread Store on a report of an armed man holding two hostages inside the building. Kolata reportedly began shooting as a deputy entered the store. Officers returned fire, striking Kolata.
According to a news release, the deputy’s wound is not believed to be life threatening. The State Trooper was not injured.
State Police are investigating the incident and will submit information to the Searcy County Prosecutor.
