According to Police Chief Paul Woodruff, 94-year-old Norma Billingsly ran a stop sign at a high rate of speed near the intersection of East Bower and North Walnut Street. After she ran the stop sign, her vehicle became airborne and hit another vehicle in the parking lot of Northside Church of Christ. After the impact, Billingsly’s car hit a railing and crashed into a building owned by the church.
Billingsly and her sister, 92-year-old Wilma Billingsly were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Woodruff added that the driver had a medical condition and no other injuries are reported from the other vehicle.
