Tax Assistance Program Seeks Volunteers

thumb_53f57ed42feca43The University of Missouri Extension is gearing up for the next tax season and looking for volunteers to help with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, or VITA.

Financial Education Specialist Nellie Lamers says accounting experience is not required of the volunteers. Training sessions will be held in November and again in January…

During the 2014 tax season, volunteers prepared over 21-hundred federal and state tax returns for taxpayers in Stone and Taney Counties.

MU Extension and the IRS provide free training and all the materials needed to prepare basic individual income tax returns.

If you would like to volunteer, contact Lamers at 417-546-4431 or email for an application
