According to park officials, 16-year-old Cindy Hawse disappeared from the Cecil Cove Area early Sunday morning, and was officially reported missing around daylight Monday morning.

The teen was found at a location about a quarter-mile north of the nearest established trail on Monday afternoon. According to the news release, Hawse was found in good condition and suffered no ill-effects from her night, in what parks officials are referring to as rough country, in that area of the park.

During the rescue efforts one of the Red Cross workers suffered a heart attack and was airlifted to North Arkansas Regional Medical Center for treatment. The Red Cross team was delivering food to various search teams near Erbie Horsecamp.

Search efforts included those from the Buffalo National River Search & Rescue, the Tri-County Search & Rescue, Mennonite Disaster Service, the American Red Cross, and the Compton Fire Department.
