An alleged armed robber is shot by an employee of Family Pharmacy on Cross Creek Boulevard east of Branson during a hold-up attempt this (Tuesday) morning, according to Taney County Sheriff Jimmie Russell.
The suspect, identified as a 33-year-old white male from Branson, previously from Colorado, reportedly entered the store just before 11 a.m., pointed a handgun at employees and demanded pills.
Sheriff Russell says one of the employees, armed with his own handgun, confronted the robber and fired one shot at him. The suspect reportedly fired several shots as he ran from the building, and fled in a westbound vehicle.
Deputies pulled over a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description a short time later at the Academy Commons Apartment Complex on East Highway 76. Russell says the male driver had a gunshot wound to his left torso. He and a female passenger were taken into custody, although the woman has since been released.
Russell says the gunshot wound is not life threatening. The suspect is being treated for his injury and will be transported to the Taney County Jail upon his release from the hospital.
Charges have not yet been filed in the case. Russell says the investigation is ongoing.
