Demolition to Complete Branson Flood Buyout

thumb_642d089ed287788The City of Branson is completing the final step of its Community Development Block Grant in the federal flood buyout program associated with the flooding of Lake Taneycomo in 2011.

Branson aldermen have approved a contract in the amount of 43-thousand dollars for low-bidder Jerry Bumgarner Trucking to demolish 4 residential properties deemed “substantially damaged” by the 2011 floodwaters.

The city originally sought funding for 7 properties, but only 4 were approved in the buyout.

The 4 properties – located on Shore Lane, Sunset Road and Hawthorn – have already been purchased through the CDB grant.

The lots will be held by the city with a commitment to no additional development in the future, due to their location within the Lake Taneycomo flood plain.
