Former College of the Ozarks Men’s Basketball star Nathane Simniok has been named the recipient of the 2014 NAIA/National Sports Foundation “All That’s Right In Sport” Award. This award recognizes an NAIA institution, team or individual for actions in NAIA competition that are clear demonstrations of extraordinary sportsmanship.
Simniok was selected for this award due to his conduct in a conference championship game against Oklahoma Wesleyan University, where he corrected a referee and said, “the ball was off me” following a call that was actually to the Bobcats’ benefit. The referee corrected the call only because of Simniok’s honesty and gave the ball to OKWU. The call came at a critical time in the game and may have affected the game’s outcome, yet Nathane’s integrity did not allow him to remain silent.
Simniok will be recognized on October 29 at the Kansas City Convention Center Grand Ballroom during the Champions of Character Foundation Awards Luncheon and at the 2014 National Sports Foundation’s Musial Awards on November 22 in St. Louis.
