Arkansas Settles with Drug Manufacturer

thumb_699877d6c5f3763The State of Arkansas has reached an agreement with Shire Pharmaceuticals LCC to settle allegations that the drug manufacturer illegally marketed 5 of its products.

As a result of the settlement, Attorney General Dustin McDaniel says Arkansas’ Medicaid program will receive more than 619-thouand dollars, including federal matching funds.

Shire was accused of illegally promoting the drugs Adderall XR, Vyvanse, Daytrana, Lialda and Pentasa, resulting in false claims submitted to Medicaid.

The drugs were marketed for uses that are not approved by the FDA, according to McDaniel.
