SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Springfield Police Officers Association protests at the city’s Municipal Complex in response to the city’s latest wage proposal.
According to a report, the union and the police department have been negotiating for sixteen months, however, they have yet to come to an agreement. The negotiations began after a Missouri Supreme Court ruling allowed public sector employees to bargain over their wages in 2012.
According to Springfield Police Officers Association President Mike Evans, the union plans to protest at every city council meeting and luncheon until a compromise is reached.
