Hollister to Appoint Municipal Judge

thumb_fcf9fc27d2d2b7aThe City of Hollister will appoint its next municipal judge as aldermen approve an ordinance to that affect by a vote of 3 to 1.

Dave Willard tells HometownDailyNews.com why he voted against the measure…

Randy Anglen has been the elected municipal judge for over 20 years. Eric Eighmy took over as judge when Anglen went on hiatus from his law practice earlier this year. Eighmy has since been elected as Taney County Division 2 Associate Circuit Judge, and will be sworn into office in January.

Despite initial opposition to the ordinance, Alderman Phil Carman voted in favor of the appointment method, pointing out that it’s a common practice for cities across the state.

The new Hollister municipal judge will be appointed by the mayor, approved by a majority of aldermen, and serve a 2-year term.
