Full release from TRLWQ:
The 5th Annual Taneycomo Lake Cleanup was a huge success thanks to the 40 volunteers who helped! There were two teams, one at Forsyth and one at Branson, gathering trash for four hours on Saturday, September 13th.
The many trash items collected included Styrofoam, boat dock parts, car seating, and discarded tires. Nineteen tires were removed from the lake along with a nearly 5 tons of trash!
With the help of Taney County Transfer Station and Allied Waste Services, all tires will be recycled!
In conjunction with the cleanup event, twenty TV’s were also collected at the Old TV and Electronics Recycling event at Empire Park, thanks to MO Solid Waste District N and Computer Recycling Center.
Kanakuk Kamps, Lilleys’ Landing and Scotty’s Trout Dock & Marina provided boats and drivers for the day. Without their support, the cleanup event could not have taken place.
Thanks also to Empire District Electric Co., Cooper Creek Resort & Campground, City of Branson, Connell Insurance Co. Dixie Stampede, Lets Go to Branson.com, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Ozark Mountain Bank, Table Rock Asphalt & Construction, White River Valley Electric Cooperative, the Missouri Stream Team and all volunteers who donated their time to improving Lake Taneycomo water quality.
