A stolen vehicle is recovered in Greene County following a traffic stop for suspected DWI this (Thursday) morning.
Sheriff Jim Arnott says the subject, identified as a white male in his mid 30s, failed to pull over and led deputies on a brief pursuit that ended in the 26-hundred block of West La Salle in Springfield.
Deputies surrounded a home where witnesses said the man was located, and then deployed a K9 unit. The sheriff says the man repeatedly assaulted the dog, but the K9 retained control over the subject and allowed deputies to take him into custody.
Arnott says the man had a needle stuck in him, but it’s unknown what was in the syringe. He’s being evaluated at a local hospital.
After further investigation, deputies determined the vehicle driven by the subject, a black Chevy Silverado pickup, was reported stolen out of Springfield.
