Faron Usrey, Aquatic Ecologist with Buffalo National River, will present information on monitoring of bacteria of Big Creek and Buffalo National River on Tuesday, September 23 at the Boone County Library.
The program begins at 5:30 p.m. and the library is located at 221 W. Stephenson in Harrison.
Monitoring of bacteria and oxygen levels has been a long-established practice for Buffalo National River. Presently Faron is transitioning to routine monitoring of Big Creek and several areas of the river.
Thus far, data suggests this year’s frequent rain showers have elevated E. coli not only in Big Creek but in many surrounding tributary systems as well.
Hear what the latest findings are and how monitoring plans will expand to other tributaries that flow into America’s first national river.
