Trees to be Removed in Downtown Harrison

thumb_c5f0ad13f82186fHARRISON, Ark. – Several trees in the square in downtown Harrison will be cut down after officials determined the trees are dying and pose hazards to the general public.

According to Boone County Administrative Assistant Lucretia Richardson, one tree limb fell down outside of the courthouse and damaged a mailbox.

Arkansas Forestry officials tested three trees and determined they had reached maturity and are now dying.

Richardson says the stumps will be removed with additional trees planted in its place. She says they hope to have the trees removed before winter in case of an ice storm.
