Suspect Appears in Murder Case

thumb_b682f509ecc3815HARRISON, Ark. – The man suspected of killing a woman at her business at Bear Creek Springs this summer appears in court for the first time on Friday.

Sixty-one-year-old Donald Biles made his first physical appearance in court since his arrest for allegedly killing 75-year-old Lorraine Carte at the Ozark Emporium at Bear Creek Springs on July 2. Biles appeared in Boone County Circuit court via video for his arraignment in July since Sheriff Mike Moore considered the inmate a flight risk.

Biles was transported to court in a separate vehicle than other inmates and was also escorted by a deputy in and out of the courtroom.

Police say Biles strangled the woman to death and then robbed the store stealing around 300-thousand dollars of merchandise.

Deputy Prosecutor Wes Bradford says he’s still waiting on the autopsy results from the state’s Crime Lab, but all other evidence has been turned over to defense attorney Dan Hancock.

He is charged with capital murder, theft, and robbery.
