Lawmakers to Vote on Abortion Bill

thumb_8b98bd8c6125c01JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri legislators will vote this week to approve a measure that will require doctors to wait 72 hours after consulting with a woman before they perform an abortion.

Lawmakers will now try to override Governor Jay Nixon’s veto as the Republican lead Legislature will look for help from the Democratic minority.

The Show-Me State’s waiting period would be the second longest behind South Dakota – Utah is the only other state with a 72-hour wait period but allows exceptions in certain cases such as rape and incest.
