Twenty-eight-year-old Jonathon Zovak is arrested and charged with fourth-degree sexual assault after he allegedly told investigators he was having sex with a minor. The victim’s mother is also charged with a Class B felony for permitting abuse of a minor.
According to police, officers learned Zovak was living with a 14-year-old girl at a hotel in Eureka Springs with her mother’s consent. Police reported the activity to the Department of Human Services, who asked investigators if sexual activity was involved in the case. Authorities requested the victim’s mother, Leslie Brashears, to report the girl as a runaway to the sheriff’s office which she refused.
On August 26, a witness reported to police that they were reportedly having sex and the girl was trying to get pregnant. Police placed the girl in protective custody and contacted the Department of Human Services the next day.
Zovak stopped by the police station to drop of a medical prescription for the minor, and allegedly admitted to investigators he was having sexual relations with the girl and her mother was “all right with it.”
Zovak was released on $3,500 bond. Brashears bond is set at $2,500 dollars.
