(FORSYTH, Mo.) The deadline for submitting stories and pictures for the upcoming Taney County History & Families book has been extended to October 15.
The book, sponsored by the White River Valley Historical Society (WRVHS) and published by Acclaim Press, will feature several hundred stories about Taney County history, as well as the past and present families of the area.
The deadline for purchasing the book at the advance discounted rate has also been extended.
“We’re pleased with the enthusiasm shown for this new book, which is the first of its kind for Taney County,” enthused Leslie Wyman, WRVHS Managing Director. “Between receipt of actual articles, and knowledge of how many are in process of being written, we estimate that we have over 100 histories at this time; however, our goal is to have at least double that amount. We also are in need of articles and pictures of the various past and present towns, communities, and businesses in the county.”
“Several people have told us they can’t do a story because they’re ‘not from Taney County’; however, if someone is currently living in the county, we want their family history, too – regardless of where their roots are from,” Wyman continued. “We have volunteers on hand to assist with preparation of the articles for those who don’t feel comfortable writing, and the publisher will also edit the submissions.”
