Two Drown on Beaver Lake

thumb_c9c7fd15ac3567cBEAVER LAKE — Two male subjects are dead as a result of two separate drowning incidents on Beaver Lake on Monday.

According to a Benton County official, a group of people were swimming near Martin’s Bluff on Beaver Lake when a female subject noticed her friend was missing. The group called 911 and the county’s dispatch team began searching the lake around 6:30 p.m. They located the body of 21-year-old Sean Kelley a couple hours later in about 60 feet of water.

Another call came in around 7:30 at Horse Shoe Bend north of Martin’s Bluff. The dive team split up with the aid of the Washington County Dive Team and the Tri-County Search and Rescue team. According to a report, a family was at a picnic and a group of boys were racing to the buoy line in the recreation area. Seventeen-year-old Wilson Laibwii struggled swimming underneath the surface and went underwater. His body was found in about 20 feet of water just after 11 p.m.
