FORT SMITH, Ark. — A Carroll County man appears in federal court on charges of distributing methamphetamine.
U.S. District Attorney Conner Eldridge says Fernando Canales-Mendoza of Green Forest made his initial appearing in federal court before U.S. Magistrate Judge James Marchewski on Friday.
DEA officials and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office investigated a drug trafficking operation in Eureka Springs. Two controlled purchases of meth was made and Canales-Mendoza was arrested last week. Several search warrants were executed to different properties suspected of dealing meth and investigators found around 140 grams of methamphetamine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Carter is the prosecuting the case for the United States. The DEA and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office are both investigating the case.
