SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – After one of its production crew members is shot and killed earlier this week in Nebraska, the television show “Cops” is leaving Springfield, according to Springfield Police Chief Paul Williams.
The show wrapped filming on Wednesday, and was originally scheduled to stay in Springfield through the end of this week. One of the show’s sound mixers was shot to death in a robbery incident in Omaha on Tuesday. The alleged robber was also killed.
Williams says he anticipated the show to air on the cable channel Spike sometime in September. The show previously featured the Springfield Police Department in 2011 which aired on Fox.
