Judge Weighs Options in Murder Trial

thumb_1b96add9120cad1SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The murder case of ten-year-old Hailey Owens will feature an out-of-town jury for the trial of the accused killer Craig Michael Wood.

The alleged murderer appeared in court on Tuesday with the defense attorney, prosecuting attorney, and judge all discussing various procedures and trial dates, although no decision or agreement was made.

Greene County Circuit Judge Dan Conklin scheduled the next court date for October 2 on the defense’s motion for a change of venue. Defense attorney for Wood, Patrick Berrigan says the media coverage of this case has been so extensive that his client can’t receive a fair trial in Springfield.
