Crews were dispatched just before 6 p.m. Friday. The first unit on scene reported flames showing from an excavator, with the fire extending into the surrounding brush. Firefighters contained the blaze to the roadside area.
According to Public Information Officer Eric Nielsen, the owner of the excavator had just filled the vehicle with approximately 75 gallons of fuel. The cause of the fire is suspected to be electrical.
The emergency response created traffic delays for just over an hour. No one was injured.
