HARRISON, Ark. – The Ozark Mountain Solid Waste District ran out of money this week but now a judge is ruling the district will not be able to file for bankruptcy.

That was Melinda Caldwell, Executive Director for the district, and she says the initial concern of waste flowing into groundwater and Lake Norfork is less likely now:

Caldwell says the annual grant money check from the ADEQ for around 138-thousand dollars is typically sent out on September first, but ADEQ officials are sending that check this month so the solid waste district can pay its bills, including the pump out of leachate.
