thumb_74abb8b57925398Bring the family to Bill Baker Amphitheatre on the south campus of North Arkansas College and watch The Amazing Spider-Man 2 spin his web to catch thieves on Saturday, August 16. The Northark Summer Movie Series is presented by Cox Communications and the Harrison Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The movie is free to the public. The August movie sponsor is Sam Alexander Health Mart Pharmacy. Showtime is shortly after dusk and estimated to occur around 8:03 p.m.

The water activities were so popular last month that this month’s movie will again include water sprinklers and a Slip’N Slide for the kids to enjoy before the movie begins. The water activities will be available between 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. Parents are encouraged to bring a spare set of clothes for those who participate in the water activities. Clothing can be changed in the bathrooms prior to the movie. Free face painting will also be available. Events are sponsored by KHOZ 102.9 “The Z” and Harrison Daily Times.

Concessions open at 6:30 p.m. Hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza, nachos, popcorn, shaved ice, and other snacks are available. Proceeds are used to support student organizations or other selected charitable causes. First come first serve chair back seating will be available to the first 750 guests and families are welcome to bring blankets or their own chairs and sit on the lawn.

The final movie for the Summer Movie Series is slated for Saturday, September 27th. The movie will be Maleficent (PG). Steve Cox, The Mad Scientist, will be entertaining the kids and teaching about science prior to the movie. His show will start at 5:30 p.m., courtesy of North Arkansas Regional Medical Center Foundation.

“We are pleased that Cox Communications and the Harrison Convention & Visitors Bureau have graciously stepped forward to be this year’s Presenting Sponsors. Our goal was to make this a free community event and allow our local citizens to hopefully become more familiar with their College,” commented Rodney Arnold, executive director of North Arkansas College Foundation. A special thanks to McDonalds of Harrison, North Arkansas Regional Medical Center, Sam Alexander Health Mart Pharmacy, Jerry Jackson Realty, and Ozark Refrigeration for helping underwrite the selected movies for this year.

Should there be inclement weather, the movie will be shown in Pioneer Pavilion.
