College of the Ozarks students Justin Brisco, Thomas Miller, Chase Sigler and Jessica Turner traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, to compete with 1,800 other college students from across the country in the 2014 National Phi Beta Lambda Competitions.
Phi Beta Lambda is the largest and oldest student business organization designed for students to sharpen their core business skills, expand their networks and participate in more than 55 business and business-related competitive events.
All four of the C of O students placed in their professional business events. Jessica Turner earned first place in the nation in the Business Communication category and received $1,000 in prize money.
“My goal for the trip was to network and to gain some business knowledge, but I came home with a trophy and something I will be glad to add to my résumé,” said Turner.
Justin Brisco, Thomas Miller and Chase Sigler also received honors. The three competed as a team in the Parliamentary Procedure category. Their combined efforts resulted in earning third place. Brisco, Miller and Sigler donated their prize money to the Gideons.
