Nurses Receive Certification in Oncology

Two Cox Medical Center Branson nurses recently passed their national certification in oncology.

Ryan Goff, RN, and Nikki Markes, RN, are now both oncology certified nurses.

CoxHealth Cancer Center Branson Director Ben Morris explained that in order to achieve the certification, Goff and Markes were required to achieve a minimum of 1,000 in oncology experience, as well as pass a rigorous exam.

While the certification should be considered an honor for both Goff and Markes who worked hard to achieve the national certification, Morris said for patients it translates to the best care.

“Studies have shown, patients who are cared for by certified nurses have better outcomes,” Morris said. “It is so good to know that the nurses here in Branson caring for our oncology patients have pushed themselves to achieve this national level certification.”

CoxHealth Cancer Center Branson is open Monday through Friday. The cancer center’s team of cancer specialists work with the entire medical center for a comprehensive treatment plan from diagnosis, to rehab and to recovery.

The goal at the cancer center is to allow patients to focus their energy on recuperating and fighting the cancer close to home.
