Harrison Teen Arrested

HARRISON, Ark. – A teenager from Harrison is behind bars after he allegedly led officers on a pursuit Monday morning.

According to a report, 19-year-old Michael McElroy saw a Harrison police car and began running away. An officer later found the teen laying down in some bushes near the library. When the officer approached McElroy, he began to run away once more, with the officer firing his stun gun. The weapon malfunctioned and only one prong struck the teen. The officer began to pursue one foot but was tripped up with the stun gun wires, fell, and broke his elbow. Another officer began pursuing McElroy who eventually shot the teen with his stun gun. The officer was able to apprehend him with the aid of the other injured officer.

According to the report, McElroy faces charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, fleeing on foot, and loitering with bond set at $20,000. He is being held at the Boone County Jail.
