Bardin Sentenced to 20 Years for Child Rape

A former advocate for adopted children is sentenced to 20 years in prison on charges of rape of a child under the age of 14.

Sixty-three-year-old William Bardin of Cotter, Arkansas was sentenced Thursday in Baxter County Circuit Court. He pleaded guilty to the charges in June.

Bardin, who operated an ice cream truck in Baxter County, was arrested at his home last September after a young girl contacted Arkansas State Police stating she had been molested by Bardin for a number of years.

Bardin and his wife Robin had been active in a non-profit organization offering resources to adoptive families, and had 10 children living in their home at the time of his arrest.

Robin Bardin is facing charges for allegedly attempting to evade numerous efforts by the Arkansas Department of Human Services to remove children from the home.
