GALENA, Mo. – A Reeds Spring man is sentenced in Stone County for assaulting a law enforcement officer.
Forty-four-year-old Joey Plunkett is convicted of second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer with a dangerous instrument, two counts of second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, and one felony charge of resisting arrest.
In January of 2013, Plunkett threw a large amount of gasoline on the face and chest of a Stone County Sheriff’s Deputy and held a lighter in his hand. Officers were able to apprehend the man and he was held in the Stone County Jail for over a year awaiting trial.
A Stone County Jury sentenced him to 15 years in the Department of Corrections on the first count, and an additional seven and four years with the remaining counts. He will be formally sentenced in court on September 16.
