What is a diabetes support group? Diabetes affects every facet of your life. The way you eat, the medication you take, the long-term outcomes all weigh on the diabetic patient. Often, you feel somewhat alienated from friends or family who also has a hard time helping you cope with the burden of diabetes. Support groups allow you to interact with other diabetics who share similar medical, psychological, and social concerns. Support groups offer education and help for diabetics and their families to live and prosper under the diabetic condition. Life doesn’t stop when diabetes enters the picture- rather we work to live a full and healthy life making smart choices together.
What is the purpose of the NARMC Diabetes Support group? At NARMC, our mission is to improve the health of our community by providing safe, quality healthcare and resources with compassion and integrity. The diabetes support group personifies this mission by promoting wellness and lifting the quality of diabetes care in our community.
What is the cost of attending the diabetes support group at NARMC? We provide the support group at no charge as a service of NARMC Primary Care. NARMC is connecting the docs and connecting you to better, more responsible, quality diabetes care.
What can I expect from attending the NARMC Diabetes Support group? Each meeting will have an education component taught by an NARMC healthcare professional, followed by time to discuss current issues in diabetes, health screenings demonstrations, or other activities. We will also discuss any barriers that you may be facing in your care, as well as ways family can support their diabetic loved ones.
Who would benefit from the NARMC diabetes support group? All diabetics, pre-diabetics, and family members who care for them are encouraged to attend.
When and where is the group held? The group is held at NARMC in conference room C on the Fourth Friday of every month at 6:00 p.m. Light refreshments are provided.
Where can I get more information? You may call Josh Bright, PharmD at 414-4387 or email him at email@example.com for more information.
