Arkansas lawmakers will be asked for upwards of 100-million dollars for construction of a new state prison.
Department of Correction officials want to build a 1-thousand inmate facility to help ease overcrowding.
The department currently houses more than 17-thousand prisoners, with over 2-thousand of the inmates housed in county jails.
Earlier this month the Arkansas legislature earmarked 6-million dollars to facilitate about 600 state inmates housed in local jails.
