Murder Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

HARRISON, Ark. – The suspected killer of an elderly woman near Bear Creek Springs pleads not guilty in Boone County Circuit Court.

Sixty-one-year-old Donald Biles appeared in court for his arraignment via video, since Sheriff Mike Moore said transporting the suspect might have posed a security risk.

Judge John Putnam scheduled Biles’ next court date in September – Biles did not request bond to be set during the arraignment.

According to police, Biles strangled 75-year-old Lorraine Carte to death and robbed her store at the Ozark Emporium. Carte’s body was sent to the state’s Crime Lab to determine the official cause of death. Biles was convicted of aggravated robbery in 1982 and pleaded no contest to commercial burglary and theft of property in 2008.

He remains in the Boone County Jail without bond.
