Deputy Recovers from Rollover Crash

CARROLL COUNTY – A Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputy is recovering from serious injuries following a rollover crash this week.

According to Sheriff Bob Grudek, Deputy Jonathan Moran was en route responding to a domestic dispute in Oak Grove, when he failed to negotiate a curve at the intersection of Highway 21 and County Road 608. The car rolled over with Moran trapped inside the vehicle:

Moran was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield after another deputy saw the wrecked patrol car. He was found to have a broken shoulder and neck, and immediately went into surgery. Doctors feared his spinal cord may have been damaged, but Sheriff Grudek says his deputy is showing signs of progress:

Grudek says he has contacted the State Highway Department to look at that intersection as it proves to be treacherous to drivers, especially at night.
