FLIPPIN, Ark. – A man from Flippin is suspended from his duties as an officer at the state prison in Calico Rock after being arrested in Mountain Home this week.
According to Mountain Home Police Chief Carry Manuel, 31-year-old Sgt. Fredrick Guerra was involved in a domestic dispute with a woman at an apartment complex on Monday night. An officer was dispatched to the scene and tried to calm Guerra down, but was unsuccessful. According to the officer, he swore at the officer, resisted arrest, and ran. After a short pursuit, the officer detained Guerra and was booked and later released from the Baxter County Jail.
The woman told investigators that Guerra was at the apartment to pick up the couple’s two children. An argument ensued and he punched a hole in the wall as well as pushed the woman into their son, causing the child to fall down.
He is charged with misdemeanor assault on a family member, fleeing and disorderly conduct.
KTLO reports David White, the warden of the North Central Unit in Calico Rock, says Guerra is suspended until the charges are settled. According to White, Guerra has worked at the prison since December 2008 and has no disciplinary actions in his employment file.
