Rockaway Beach to Let Bids on Crossover Bridge

The City of Rockaway Beach is getting ready to construct a walking bridge across Lake Taneycomo to the peninsula at Mallard Bay. It’s part of a 3-phase project to improve recreational opportunities including hiking and camping.

Alderman Jerry Simms says the city is approved for a DNR recreational trails grant, which will cover 89-thousand dollars of the expected 110-thousand dollar project cost…

The 120-foot-long crossover bridge is part of a 2-point-5 mile-long, ADA-compliant walking trail, which will eventually connect with Empire Park.

The Taney County Park Board has contributed 5-thousand dollars to the project.
