HARRISON, Ark. – Former Bull Shoal Police Chief Daniel Sutterfield pleads not guilty to federal charges alleging he used excessive force when arresting a man last year.
The former chief allegedly kicked, stomped, and hit 35-year-old Nicholas Dore with the butt of a shotgun during an arrest in July 2013. According to officials, Dore was already in handcuffs when Sutterfield started assaulting him.
He faces federal charges of depriving Dore of his rights and ordering a law officer to falsify records to cover it up.
His trial is scheduled to begin next Tuesday in Harrison.
