High Speed Pursuit in Harrison

HARRISON, Ark. – A Harrison man is in custody following a high-speed pursuit on Saturday.

Police say 30-year-old Justin Lewis ran a red light at the intersection of Central and Main – that’s when officers began the pursuit. The pursuit led on reaching speeds of 80 miles per hour when Lewis ditched his vehicle in a pasture behind St. Paul’s Methodist Church. When officers began to apprehend Lewis he resisted arrest, kicking one officer in the groin.

Lewis faces charges of fleeing in vehicle, terroristic threatening, first-degree criminal mischief, possession of a controlled substance with methamphetamine, second-degree battery, reckless driving with accident, running a red light, DWI, and two counts of aggravated assault upon an officer. His bond is set at $500,000 and remains in the Boone County Jail.
