Marion Co. Courthouse Grant Approved

thumb_36d180edfb466f1YELLVILLE, Ark. — The Marion County Courthouse is getting a boost in security through a grant of about $15,000.

The grant was funded by the Arkansas Supreme Court who gave $250,000 to 21 counties across the state.

The grant will be used to purchase key card systems in the Courthouse and Annex which includes 50 reusable keys and a two-year warranty on parts and labor. The grant will also provide two defibrillators for each building.

County Grants Administrator Sheila Thomas says it will also save the county some money in the long run, with the county spending $1,300 last year for new keys and locks.

Thomas also says the key cards will be tailored to each user, programmed to only be used during authorized hours.
