Black Bear Population on the Rise

MISSOURI – The Missouri Department of Conservation is educating Missourians about black bears, who can be seen more and more in the Show-Me State.

The Missouri Black Bear Foundation held its first meeting last month, and plans to hold educational programs and well as organize research projects.

The conservation department is now trapping female bears to count their numbers, in part of a seven-year effort to study the bears’ population in the state.
