HARRISON, Ark. – The proposed half-percent sales tax will be decided by Harrison voters in a special election held on August 12, after a split vote by the city council.
If approved, the ordinance would invoke a half-cent split between the police and fire departments, with a 30% minimum set aside for equipment in each department.
Harrison Police Chief Paul Woodruff has been collaborating with Interim Fire Chief Linda DeWald on the proposal:
The special election will be paid by both departments as well as donated money by local residents.
