Yellville Bans Tobacco in Parks

thumb_0f997423389fdedYELLVILLE, Ark.– Yellville City Council passes an ordinance to ban tobacco products in city parks.

Following the meeting on Monday, June 2, tobacco products banned will be cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, and electronic cigarettes. The areas affected by the new ordinance will be the sports park on Highway 14 south, LaytonCemetery, and the Depot Park.

Mayor Shawn Lane said a reason for the ordinance was the significant health risk, uncleanliness, and unsightliness.

The ordinance was voted on after its third reading.
